This is something that can be massively misinterpreted by those who are not quite familiar with what CrossFit is yet. This can be due to the increasing popularity of the Reebok CrossFit Games. People often think everyone that does CrossFit is a competitive fit athlete. This is not the case with the majority of CrossFitters not interested in competition and only coming to train to stay healthy, learn how to move correctly, get fitter and stronger. Comparing yourself to these top athletes is like worrying that if you go for a jog round the block you will be pressured into competing against Mo Farah in the olympics! This is certainly not the case, we have members of all ages and abilities, some that want to compete but most that wouldn't want to.
If competition is something that you would like to aim for then there is plenty of local competitions popping up in all areas of the UK for all ages and abilities. Again, as a comparison to running, this is like going to a 5k/10k/marathon running race. It gives you motivation to train, a way of pushing yourself against other people to see how you compare and exposes what you should work more on. All competitions we have been involved with are friendly and theres a great sense of community between the boxes.
